The workshop “Collecting Outstanding Debts. Correct Action Algorithms”, organised together with the Industry Committee and Business Security Committee, a member of which Pragnum Law Firm is, was held in the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Dmytro Zhukov, the Partner of Pragnum Law Firm, was the main speaker. He told the industry representatives that it was not scary and it was even necessary to seek legal redress in some cases: litigation does not entail negative attitude of good-faith contracting parties or a “tick in the database of the State Fiscal Service” that many are afraid of. Dmytro also described ways of increasing efficiency of litigations with debtors and mitigating legal costs using real cases as examples.

The success-fee advocate partnership system that was successfully used by the lawyers of Pragnum Law Firm aroused especial interest of the participants. This system allows sharing risks with the advocate and hiring the recognised law firm at no cost at the very start, which had been long used in the US and Great Britain. Dmytro forecasts the Ukrainian business would also soon realise the advanced nature of such form of mutual relations and refuse from payment of “litigation” invoices and start paying “for the result”.

Format of the event allowed its participants to ask the expert the questions that have brought them to the workshop on the given theme, and Dmytro gave answers and practical recommendations on specific litigations.

The Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also expressed its intention to organise the workshop in its premises.
